Flat Feet
What are flat feet?
Flat feet or collapsed arches, are a common problem and one of the key reasons people seek the advice of a Podiatrist.
During the 'Loading Phase' of the Gait cycle, the Mid-foot Pronates (rolls-in) in order to adapt to surrounding terrain. Over-pronation refers to the excessive internal rotation forces that occur during the Loading Phase.
Over-pronation can contribute to heel, arch, ankle and shin pain, causing the foot to feel fatigued and sore. A weakened, flat foot posture can be linked to the knee, hip and lower back issues - this misalignment can cause discomfort and instability to the lower limb.
